Parenting is Hard Work!

You don’t have to go it alone.

I can help you, your child, and your family get on a healthy, happy track.

Who I Help

Kids

Does your child struggle with anxiety, anger outbursts, or defiance? Have they experienced trauma, or been diagnosed with ADHD, ADD, autism, or another disorder?

I help kids who are struggling with explosive anger, worries, Sensory Processing Disorder, foster care and adoption, trauma/attachment, abuse and neglect.

Parents

Parenting is hard! Parenting a child with behavior or emotional problems is even harder.

You do the best you can with the knowledge and resources you have; but when you have reached your limit, you call for help.

That’s where I come in. I believe that working with children is a collaborative effort. We will work together to determine goals and a course of treatment that works best for you and your child. After all, you are the expert on your family.

Community

I have a passion for supporting parents and the local and regional community on issues related to children’s mental health. I can provide expertise on topics such as play therapy, child therapy, trauma, attachment, and autism.

If you are interested in hosting me as a speaker at your next event, please contact me.

How I Help

Play Therapy

Does your child struggle with anxiety, anger outbursts, or defiance? Have they experienced trauma, or been diagnosed with ADHD, ADD, autism, or another disorder? Play therapy is ideal for children have experienced trauma of high stress and even those who have been adopted or involved in the foster care system. Play is a child’s language and the toys are their words. Play therapy can help the child explore their thoughts and feelings and decrease defiant and disruptive behaviors. Contact me for more information on how I can help.

What To Expect

I first meet with parents and caregivers only to complete a comprehensive assessment to discuss your child’s early development, current functioning and presenting problem. At the next session, I typically meet alone with the child where we begin to form a connection. During this phase, your child will be getting used to me, the playroom, and the play therapy process. In parent or family sessions, I will use engaging activities to increase attachment, and family bonding. We are partners throughout the process and I am here to guide you every step of the way.

What I Do

I help a variety of clients with different needs using evidenced based treatments such as play therapy, trauma-informed therapy, Theraplay, sandtray and sensory play. These treatment models help children express their traumas, find positive coping skills and restructure the parent-child relationship to promote greater bonding and security. I also help clients with a variety of other mental health disorders such as depression, anxiety, defiance, and more. Contact me for more information or to schedule an appointment.
